Behavioural Assessments
Understanding Behaviour to Pave the Way for Meaningful Growth
Why is an Assessment the First Step?
Effective support begins with a deep understanding. Before we can address challenging behaviours or teach new skills, we must first understand the 'why' behind them. A comprehensive behavioural assessment, such as a Functional Behaviour Assessment (FBA), is a crucial diagnostic tool that allows us to move beyond guesswork.
This process provides the critical insights needed to develop a truly personalised and effective Behaviour Support Plan. It ensures that our strategies are not just generic, but are specifically tailored to your child’s unique strengths, needs, and circumstances.
Our Comprehensive Assessment Process
Initial Consultation & Information Gathering
We begin by talking with you, your family, teachers, and other caregivers to gather a holistic view of your child’s world and the specific behaviours of concern.
Direct Observation
Our therapists observe the child in their natural environments (e.g., home, school, community) to see the behaviour in context and collect objective data.
Data Analysis & Hypothesis Development
We meticulously analyse the collected data to identify patterns, triggers (antecedents), and outcomes (consequences) to determine the function or purpose of the behaviour.
Comprehensive Report & Recommendations
You receive a detailed report that clearly explains our findings, the function of the behaviour, and a set of practical, evidence-based recommendations to guide future support.
